About the Journal

Aim and Scope:

The Ethiopian Journal of Pediatrics and Child Health (Ethiop J Pediatr Child Health) is an official organ of the Ethiopian Pediatric Society and regularly publishes merited scientific contributions in the broader field of pediatrics, child health, and related areas having pragmatic significance to science and people’s health in Ethiopia and the World at large. Its broader mission is the advancement of evidence-based Pediatrics and Child Health academics, policy guidance, and care service standards.

The Ethiopian Journal of Pediatrics and Child Health (EJPCH) traditionally publishes biannual regular issues in January and July. However, in 2025, the publication schedule was adjusted to May 1 and September 1 to prepare for an increase in publication frequency starting from 2026. Starting from January 2026, the journal publishes three issues per year as January 1, May 1, and September 1 issues.

The Journal accepts Editorials, Policy Briefs, Original Articles, Review Articles, Brief Communications, Case Studies, Teaching Articles, Letters, and other types of submissions based on merit and timeliness. The Editorial Board will invite and propose review and teaching articles for publication.

 Journal History and Descriptions

The Ethiopian Journal of Pediatrics and Child Health was first published in January 2005, initially publishing one issue per year. Beginning in 2016, the journal adopted a biannual publication schedule, releasing issues in August and December through 2024. In 2025, the issue months were adjusted to May and September in preparation for an increase in publication frequency. Starting in January 2026, the journal expanded to three issues per year, published on January 1, May 1, and September 1. Since its establishment, the journal has published both an online version http://ejpch.net/index.php/ejpch and a print copy, which is distributed to EPS members for free and to others on subscription basis. The journal is currently indexed on Scopus Scopus preview - Scopus - Ethiopian Journal of Pediatrics and Child Health since 2019, African Journal Online (AJOL) starting from 2022 which can be accessed at https://www.ajol.info/index.php/ejpch and the Ethiopian Journal Online (EJOL) since 2016 which can be accessed at http://ejol.ethernet.edu.et/. The journal uses DOI for each articles published and the DOI prefix of Ethiopian Journal of Pediatrics and Child Health is 10.4314/ejpch.

Recognizing the journal contribution to science and increase in journals publication impact, Addis Ababa University included EJPCH among its list of reputable journals in November 2019. The Journal was included among the list of reputable journals that met the criteria set by the Ethiopian Science and Technology Commission and the Ethiopian Academy of Sciences and received the official recognition on August 2024. 

Article Processing Charge and Advertising

The journal does not charge subscription fees, does not allow advertising, and/or does not charge article processing fees. The journal publication cost is covered by the Ethiopian Pediatric Society, which is the sole publisher of the Journal.
